How to STOP Thieves from Changing Apple Id Password on your STOLEN iPhone! Screen time

What is the best way to prevent a thief from changing your AppleID on an iPhone once they have the phone and have accessed the phone (the problem was reported in a Wall Street Journal article last week)? It appears the current Apple ID is not needed to change to a new ID, and if a physical security key (passcode) is in place, it can be removed to revert back to the 2-factor system whereby a code is sent to the stolen iPhone.  Almost a month back an iphone user published a story about how thieves are taking over Apple IDs

iOS 17.3 new options for Stolen Device Protection

After installing iOS 17.3 Beta 1 we have a new option for Stolen Device Protection. In the two different iphones that I’ve updated so far, it only showed on my 15 Pro Max with the Hello screen. However, if it doesn’t show that prompt, it’s under settings and then Face ID and passcode. I’m not sure why it doesn’t show for all phones on beta 1. is this a bye bye icloud removals?
